SUPPORTING OUR CHARITIES IN SPRINGFIELD & BEYOND

A Caring Community is a Happy One!

We have always had a big heart to make our care factor felt and to make an impact! We want to be able to give back to this community and beyond.    “Healthcare that Cares” is not just a motto to us — it is the reason we do what we do every day. Our goal is to genuinely help those with healthcare needs on a large scale and those in desperate need.

We believe:

...Every Life Matters!

Because we believe every single life has value, purpose and destiny, we are passionate about generosity and making a lasting impact in every soul we meet, especially those who the world has forgotten - those unable to help themselves and in serious need.

SUFFERING EFFECTS OF H.I.V AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

(GEREKA VILLAGE - PORT MORESBY, PAPUA NEW GUINEA)

iCare4U is our very own non-profit organization founded in 2015 by long-time friends Adam Atherton and (mi bratha wantaim) George Nita. This organization has a vision to support, care for and improve the quality of life of “at risk” individuals who are marginalized, orphaned or ostracized and living with the devastating effects of HIV and Domestic Violence.

The reason we do what we do is based on the truth that every life matters; every person has inherent value and worth and needs love and care.
We believe that together, we can make a difference, even if it is in just one life at a time.

Papua New Guinea is Australia’s closest neighbour, and in the spirit of “love thy neighbour” we have recognized that there is a shocking amount of early death, stigma and unnecessary human suffering due to poor access to healthcare services and lack of care. The Papua New Guinean government, healthcare and social support systems are just not adequately prepared to help young women and children dealing with such devastating health issues like a new HIV diagnosis (often by rape or infidelity) and health issues related to domestic violence.
The ongoing holistic and critical care we will provide at our iCare4U centre will be a Papua New Guinea first. This home is a live-in (medium- and long-term stay) Respite and Rehabilitation centre. At this stage in all of PNG we are only aware of a Salvation Army and Anglicare short-term /emergency help centre for new HIV and DV victims, but nothing other than this exists for longer term rehabilitation and care. We are currently about 30% into the project on our 1.5 acre property in Gereka, PNG and have already helped a large number of women and children - including adopting a little one and helping to get adopted into great local and overseas families some babies with HIV and DV backgrounds. Check out our Facebook page for recent updates and progress photos.

Challenges Our CARE Centre and Respite Home helps Address:

The current lack of care, support and protection in PNG is significant for these at risk groups and our Rehabilitation and Respite centre  will help those and address such challenges as:
  • Neglected, orphaned or abandoned HIV positive children.
  • HIV positive people of all ages are ostracised or discarded from families, social groups and support networks.
  • HIV positive people are often forced to live with social stigma and increasing isolation.
  • Inconsistent illness management, which impacts their opportunity to live a relatively normal or long life. (we have close links to PM General Hospital and local medical clinics)
  • Without care and support, there is an increased risk of pregnant mothers passing the HIV virus onto their unborn child, further perpetuating this unfortunate cycle.
  • Communities are fearful of HIV and do not understand the true impact of this condition or the recent, positive advances made in managing the illness.
  • Young women who are raped often contract HIV this way and are then often discarded by their families - these precious souls and their new born children are often vulnerable to repeated bouts of Domestic Violence.
Our project supports the national HIV/AIDS Strategy (particularly priority area two, which includes counselling, testing, treatment care and support) and the international W.H.O goals (Western Pacific Region). If you want to help in any way – even take a trip to PNG for a mercy mission holiday (and loan your hands-on skills) just go to our website and /or reach out to us via email admin@icare4u.org.au

To donate click on the DONATE button on the iCare4u website. All donations are tax deductible through our trusted parent charity Australian Mercy.  95% of any money given to iCare4u goes directly to the people and projects on the ground (i.e. only 5% for administration and processing fees at the AusMercy Australian end).
